MISS COLETTE:

I'm a mom of 5 blessings ages 0-16, born and raised here on this property. I have been homeschooling since 2015 when my oldest became school age. We have loved different styles of learning from Waldorf to Charlotte Mason, always gravitating towards the nature minded approaches.

Over the years we have tried many different groups, co-ops and fellowships, always trying to find that perfect fit that felt like nourishment for both our body and spirit. I've lead a forest school in Dishman Hills and I am a seasoned part of the Wild + Free community.

At home we follow the Seasonal Scripture Feasts and have raised our kids rooted in the Messianic faith. When we are not barefoot in the garden or cooking something wholesome in the kitchen you can find us frolicking in the woods or at the lake. The last 20 years I have been learning and sharing herbalism in my home and community through my company Botanical Harmonies,  providing organic herbal salves, tinctures, teas, and more. I am a Mat Pilates Instructor and love inspiring others to live a vibrant, dynamic lifestyle.

I believe in a holistic approach to raising children with the importance of spiritual and organic food being top priority, spending time with our feet on God's earth and enjoying His creation, moving our bodies and learning how to be more Christ-like every day.

MISS MELISSA:

I am a mama of three, musician, and writer, and I’ve always been enchanted with childhood and play. For almost three years, I have worked in Waldorf environments and have taught music for four years. This will be our first year diving in to homeschooling--glory to God!

Some of my happiest childhood memories are of my Papa and Grandma's garden and the woods behind his home, where he would build whatever I could dream up.  I would be lost in the kingdom of make believe. The world is full of hidden places, beauty, possibility, and a little bit of mystery. I want to gift that kind of childhood to my own children: one rooted in nature, creativity, meaningful work, wonder, and the freedom to be fully how God created them.

I am passionate about finding our way back to Eden—toward a life of family, renewal, tending the land, caring for animals, beauty, simplicity and closeness to God. I aim for Jesus to be at the center of my life, and I am continually learning about grace through Him and, so much so, through the children.

I sing, play harp, guitar, and piano, write songs and poetry, and am currently writing my own album. I hope to bring all of these pieces of myself into our little community and help create a place where children feel seen, known, and free to wonder, create, and grow into who they were created to be.

After years of searching for a program that met our desire for extra nourishment for our children's body, mind and spirit, we came together with a shared-dream from which blossomed Yarah Youth.
